ELI DESPRES & KIM ROBERTS - Writers/Directors
Despres and Roberts are husband-and-wife filmmakers who have been working in the
film business for over 10 years. Roberts is an Emmy nominated Editor who has cut
some of the most celebrated documentaries of recent years including Oscar
nominees DAUGHTER FROM DANANG and LONG NIGHT'S JOURNEY INTO DAY, LOST BOYS OF
SUDAN, A HARD STRAIGHT, and DADDY & PAPA. She received her Masters Degree in
Documentary Film Production from Stanford University. Despres got his start as
an Apprentice Editor in Roger Corman's studios on such films as BLOODFIST V, and
CARNASAUR. Despres is a self-taught filmmaker whose short films have screened at
festivals internationally. Roberts and Despres have co-written several
award-winning screenplays together, including HOW TO BE GINA, Grand Prize winner
at the CineStory Screenplay Competition. They won the Film Arts Foundation's
Robin Eickman Screenwriting Grant for WILDERNESS SURVIVAL FOR GIRLS. Their short
films have won a Student Academy Award, Golden Gate Award, and many others. This
is their first feature film.
