Welcome to the Hudson Theatres.

We consist of 4 theatres and a cafe:

Hudson Avenue (99seats)
An intimate venue that works wonderfully for anything from a one person show (LA Times critics choice The Very Worst of Varla Jean Merman) to a large cast musical (LA Weekly Best Musical winner: Medea: The Musical) and the drama The Talented Tenth starring Robert Guillaume.

Hudson Mainstage (99 seats)
Our proscenium stage that brought LA such hits as multiple award winning Bare! the musical (Broadway 2003), Telegram from Heaven (LA Weekly Production of the Year) Pay or Play with Ann Heche and the smash hit revival of The Rose Tattoo with Rob Estes.

Hudson Guild (43 seats)
Small jewel box stage that has presented numerous smash hit shows including the world premiers of Jack Heifners's Boy's Play, Shem Bitterman's The Job and Julie Jensen's Last Lists Of My Mad Mother and classics such as Hedda Gabler, The Misanthrope and Twelfth Night.

Hudson Backstage (99 seats)
Our largest stage that was the home of Reefer Madness (Best Production Award LADCC) opened on Broadway in 2001, the muliple award winning The Master and Margarita and smash hits The Diva is Dismissed (5 major awards including NAACP) and My Big Fat Greek Wedding written and starring Nia Vardolas.

Caffé Bacio
Italian for "Coffee Kiss", Caffé Bacio is an artistic environment similar to a New York style "Village" coffee house; complete with rotating art shows, full service espresso bar and light dining. The cafe is perfect for receptions, meetings with your production team and after theatre socializing.

At the Hudson, we continually improve our physical environment so you can produce high-quality award-winning Broadway-caliber theatre.

We are proud to have had numerous productions make their way to Broadway and Off-Broadway following their successful Hudson run. Recent Broadway-bound plays include: Reefer Madness, Bare! the musical, The Diva is Dismissed, Grandma Sylvia's Funeral, The Survivor, and Sweet Deliverance set to star Fran Drescher.

Some of our shows even make their way onto the big screen. My Big Fat Greek Wedding received its world premiere at the Hudson and was made into a film by Rita Wilson and Tom Hanks' production company. And, Titus, the hit television show starring Christopher Titus, was originally performed for the stage at the Hudson under the title Norman Rockwell is Bleeding.

Most recently we have founded our Women's Theatre Company Los Angeles (WTCLA) a women's company devoted to all stages of developing a theatre production and resulting in fully mounted works.

Hudson Theatre Productions have received considerable recognition for their artistic contributions over the years. In 1997 alone, there were a remarkable 62 awards and nominations honoring the work done in that banner year and the Hudson has continued into the Millenium with the same fervor.

Recent awards include:
LA Drama Critic's Circle Awards
LA Weekly Awards
Backstage West Garland Awards
GLAAD Media Awards
Ovations Awards
NAACP Awards

In just the past two years, Bare! the musical, Reefer Madness, Medea: The Musical, and A Gay Christmas Carol were all nominated for Best Musical Productions by LA Drama Critic's Circle Awards, LA Weekly Awards, Ovations or GLAAD Media awards.

The Hudson is especially proud of its Los Angeles Drama Critic Circle award for establishing a vibrant Theater district in Hollywood by creating the industrious "Theatre Row Hollywood." That same year, Lily Tomlin presented us with the Charlie Award given to the Hudson Theatre by the Hollywood Arts Council for our "meritorious contributions to Hollywood."
